Daily meditation sessions in Karnataka schools to enhance students’ concentration

Now students in Karnataka have to attend daily meditation sessions in their schools.

With a view to enhancing the stamina and concentration of students, the Government in the south Indian state has directed all primary and secondary school managements to conduct meditation sessions every day at least for 10 minutes without fail.

“Daily meditation is required in schools to help improve stamina, concentration, health and reduce physical and mental stress among primary school students in the state. This helps students to develop a positive attitude, good habits and become good citizens. In view of the fact that meditation is already being done in the schools of some districts, it is instructed to allow meditation for 10 minutes every day in all the primary schools in the state,” said Karnataka Minister of School Education and Literacy B C Nagesh.

He exhorted the students to practice meditation on a daily basis. “All the schools and pre-university colleges in the state should arrange a time for mediation for the students and take necessary actions,” the minister tweeted while sharing a note in this regard that he sent to his department for action.

As per the note, the move was based on a request by the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association.
