Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal appeals to corporates to open 'Yoga Cells' to maximize efficiency at workplace


Intense promotion and the consequent wiidespread acceptance of Yoga has positioned India as a leader in the global health and wellness, Union Minister for Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal has said.Inaugurating 'Yoga Mahotsav 2023', a three-day event to  mark the 100-day countdown to International Day of Yoga 2023 at New Delhi on March 13, the Minister appealed to corporate houses to open 'Yoga Cells' in their premises to maximize efficiency at the workplace.Mr. Sonowal also launched a one-minute video on 'Y Break' Yoga App for enabling the larger masses, particularly for workaholics, to include Yoga in their lifestyle.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also issued a call to all Indians through tweet to mark the  100-day countdown with enthusiasm. “With a hundred days to go for Yoga Day, urging you all to mark it with enthusiasm. And, if you haven’t made Yoga a part of your lives already, do so at the earliest,” the Prime Minister said.The 'Yoga Mahotsav 2023' inaugural ceremony was attended by Union Minister of Culture and Tourism G. Kishan Reddy, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, and Union Minister of State for Ayush Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, and other officials were also present on the occasion.Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Chancellor, SVYASA University, Bengaluru, Munishree Kamal Kumar, Terapanth Samaj, Rajasthan, and international athlete Ms. Hima Das, were also present on the occasion.

On the second day of the 'Yoga Mahotsav-2023' at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi, and Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh, Ladakh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote Yoga through academic activities, research and training and sharing of expertise. The agreement was signed by Dr. Ishwar V. Basavaraddi, Director, MDNIY, and Ven. Bhikku Sanghsena, Founder President & Spiritual Director, MIMC.The experts summit on the second day was addressed by, among others,Ven. Bhikku Sanghasena, Prof. Somdev Satanshu, Vice Chancellor, Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, CPU, Hamirpur Himachal Pradesh, Shri. Mulai Muhilan, Commissioner, Youth empowerment and Sports Department, Government of Karnataka, and Ekta Bouderlique, Heartfulness Institute.

Children from Patanjali Yog Peeth and Pyramid Yoga Team gave some brilliant performances which got huge appreciation from the audience.
