6th edition of ‘Ayush 2019’


Madurai: The sixth edition of ‘Ayush 2019’, an expo on traditional and herbal medicines, will be organised by Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) at MADITSSIA hall from August 15 to August 18. The association president K P Murugan said that the event is aimed at promoting the benefits of traditional medication. “Every year thousands of people have benefited by participating in the expo,” he said.

Close to 1,000 traditional medicine practitioners from Tamil Nadu and Kerala are expected to participate in the expo and the more than 20 technical sessions. More than 500 rare herbs with their names and medicinal qualities will be on display for sale in an exclusive stall.

Knowledge sharing sessions on leech therapy for externally removing clots without surgery, easy practices in Siddha for ensuring normal delivery (that is drastically dropping), role of diet and nutrition in ovulatory fertility and integrated approach for prevention and management of cancer are among those that will be organised.

Herbal food competition where participants have to prepare food and elaborate its nutrition value will be held on August 17 and herbal magic show on unique qualities of herbs will be held on August 18.

Chairman of the expo K Rajamurugan said that separate stalls will be put up by Siddha, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Yoga, Unani and Homeopathy experts, where free consultation, treatment and medicines will be provided. The free camps will be held every day from 11am to 1pm and from 4pm to 6pm. Entry will be free of cost for the expo which will be open from 10am to 8pm.
