Coconut water – the miracle drink

Coconut water is often described as the “fluid of life”, given the many health benefits.

Consumption of the clear liquid found in freshly cut coconuts has scientifically proven to aid weight loss, help in digestion, prevent kidney stones, reduce blood pressure and support heart health among others.

Sipping tender coconut water will also boost fertility and is highly recommended for pregnant women. It’s a rich source of B-complex vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, thiamine, pyridoxine, and folate – all essential if you are trying to conceive.

Apart from these, coconut water is recommended by physicians for treatment of urinary tract infections, a medical condition mainly experienced by women. Coconut water is a natural diuretic and helps in removing bacteria from urinary tract. It has found in studies that drinking coconut water twice a day helps in fast recovery from the infection.

Women can drink coconut water during pregnancy to gain essential nutrients and keep the body cells hydrated. Coconut water consumption will ease morning sickness, vomiting and constipation. It’s also rich in vitamins. Coconut water contains lauric acid which helps in balancing hormones. It has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that strengthen immune system, thereby help in prevention of diseases.

Coconut water and oil is very good for skin. Drinking coconut water benefits the skin as it hydrates the cells and makes it soft. Coconut oil is usually applied in dry, itchy skin associated with hormone imbalance.

The liquid extracted from green coconuts contains far more electrolytes than an average sports drink. It’s a natural source of minerals like calcium, potassium and magnesium. Best of all, coconut water is proven to boost circulation, and this is where its ancient, aphrodisiac reputation probably comes in.
