Virtual Healthcare and Hygiene Expo 2020 kicked off


The country’s largest virtual exhibition and conference, the ‘Virtual Healthcare & Hygiene Expo 2020’, has been kicked off with focus on promoting the health sector using digital platforms and technologies.

The five-day event (from June 22 to 26) is organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) with the support of the AYUSH Ministry. The expo is expected to witness participation of over 1000 international buyers from nearly 120 countries.

"Traditional medicines are playing an important role in supporting the Government’s efforts to tackle the Corona crisis,” Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for  Shipping (Independent charge) and Chemicals & Fertilisers, said while inaugurating the event.

He said an ecosystem is being built for a self-reliant India, which will help in ramping up domestic production in Pharmaceutical Sector and Health & Hygiene Sector.

“We are drafting rules to encourage private players to come forward to make pharma and medical devices parks in the country…Health, Hygiene & Sanitation, Medical Textiles & Devices, AYUSH and Wellness sector assume greater significance in our resolute fight against the COVID 19 pandemic,” the minster said.

Complementing FICCI on the first of its kind initiative in launching a virtual exhibition and conference, Mandaviya added, ”VHHE has shown a new way to not only India but also the world. Using these platforms and technologies will help promote the entire health sector.”

Meanwhile, the organisers are set to hold a webinar on the subject ‘AYUSH: Bringing Health and Immunity to the World’ on Tuesday evening. It will be streamed live from 3 pm to 4.30 pm on the online VHHE platform. The discussion will include topics like the role and importance of AYUSH under the current circumstances of pandemic, especially its potential towards prevention and treatment.
