Make immunity booster ‘Giloy Kadha’ at home


Giloy, also known as Amrita or Guduchi, is a herb that purifies blood, fights bacteria, combats liver diseases, and prevents urinary tract infections. As per Naturopathy, consuming Giloy Kadha regularly helps improve immunity and fight against various infections.

The Ministry of Ayush has turned to its social media handle to help citizens in preparing the herbal immune booster at their homes easily.

The ingredients include Giloy (Chittamrite) stem – five one-inch pieces, two cups of water, one teaspoon turmeric, ginger (2 inch), tulsi leaves and jaggery.

Take a pan half filled with water and out it on medium flame. Add all the ingredients one by one and bring to boil. Turn off the flames once the Kadha quantity is reduced to half. The immunity boosting decoction is ready for consumption.

According to Ayurvedic experts, the compounds Gingerol and Curcumin present in Giloy has immunity-boosting properties. Hence consuming this Kadha on a regular basis helps fight various infections and ailments.

Giloy, which removes toxins and purify blood, is prescribed for treating various diseases like liver diseases, urinary tract infections, chronic fever and diabetics. Giloy acts as a hypoglycemic agent and helps reduce high levels of blood sugar. It contains anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic properties that helps reduce respiratory problems, like frequent cough, cold and tonsils, besides arthritis.

Earlier, the Ayush ministry has tied up with the Delhi Police to conduct an observational study on the immunity boosting effects of certain ayurvedic herbs. An experimental medicine mix containing Giloy Ghan Vati and Chyawanprash was provided to 80, 000 personnel of the force.
