Kerala Tourism: Bekal Fort to come live with Sound-and-Light show

The vibrant history of the 17th century Bekal Fort, the largest and most preserved forts in the south Indian state of Kerala, will come live with a Sound-and-Light Show soon. The Kerala Tourism is all set to provide the unique experience to visitors flocking to the key-hole shaped sea-side fort in Kasaragod starting from Onam, the annual harvesting festival.

It will trace the history behind the setting up of the fort and the many adventurous and thrilling tales entwined with the fort, following its construction.

All the preparation work for the mega entertainment programme has been completed and, come September, the start of the tourist season, the show will be kick-started. The sound-and-light show is set to be an educational and entertainment programme. The laser show will be projected onto the huge wall of the fort and will last around 25 minutes.

The bi-lingual show will be held at night at the fort where laser lighting will set the ambiance for narrating the interesting lore behind the setting up of the fort and the events succeeding it.

"Bekal is the biggest and the most well-preserved fort in Kerala. There are many poignant moments in history linked to the fort. All works have been completed and a trial run will be conducted soon. This will then be opened to the public in September, and will be dedicated as an Onam gift to the people," said Mr. Biju R, Secretary, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Kasaragod.
