AYUSH scholarship scheme for foreign students


The Indian Ministry of AYUSH offers 104 scholarships to foreign nationals to pursue various Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) courses in the country.

The last date of submission of applications for the academic year 2020-21 has been extended till August 31. Applicants should be 18 years old at the time of admission in Indian Universities/ Institutes.

The scheme is implemented through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Interested candidates can apply through the ‘Admission to Alumni (A2A) portal of the ICCR. This time around, the application form has been amended enabling each student to choose three institutions in which they wish to study.  

The AYUSH scholarship scheme can be availed by eligible foreign nationals from 99 countries for pursuing Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and PhD courses in premier institutes in India. The scheme aims at achieving recognition and acceptance of the Indian traditional medicine systems abroad.

The details of the scholarships are as follows:

COURSES AND ELIGIBILITY: 

UNDER-GRADUATE COURSES

• Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAM,): 5 ½ year degree course including one-year mandatory clinical training (internship) 

Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) 

• Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS) 5 ½ year degree course including one-year mandatory clinical training (internship) 

Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) 

• Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS): 5 ½ year degree course including one year mandatory clinical training (internship) 

Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) 

• Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicines and Surgery (BAMS): 5 ½ year degree course including one-year mandatory clinical training (internship) 

Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) 

• B.Sc in Yoga: 3-year course 

Eligibility: 12 years of schooling 

• B. A. (Yoga Shastra) : 3 years course 

Eligibility: 12 years of schooling 

POST-GRADUATE COURSES 

• M.D. Ayurveda: 3-year course 

Eligibility: BAMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) 

• MD Siddha: 3-year course 

Eligibility: BSMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) 

• MD Unani: 3-year course 

Eligibility: BUMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) 

• MD Homoeopathy: 3-year course 

Eligibility: BHMS degree recognized by Central Council of homeopathy (CCH)

PH.D. COURSES 

Ph.D in Ayurveda: 3 years course 

Eligibility: MD (Ayurveda) degree recognized by CCIM
