Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam- PNNM College Hospital

Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam Hospital and Nursing Home is the oldest Ayurvedic healing centre which was established in 1902 as a charitable organization to preserve and promote the science of life. The Zamorin of Calicut Manavikrama Ettan Raja had a celestial vision in the general health care of his subjects. He wanted the knowledge and wisdom in Ayurveda acquired by the vaidyas, through ages of observation and learning to be made available to the common man, when it was available only to the kings, queens, landlords and the rich. Thus formed the Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam, with the active support of The Zamorin, The Maharaja of Cochin, The Ashtavaidyas and other Ayurveda enthusiasts of that era. Today Samajam is known to be one of the dependable health Sanatoriums in India. A two-acre herbal garden and a well-equipped pharmacy in the premises produce 400 varieties of Ayurvedic Medicines.

Research Centre

To attain the Centre of Excellence in Indian Medicine (Ayurveda) the college has established a Research Centre five years back. Over 400 works on classical Ayurveda & related subjects are digitalized and preserved for the use of future generations. The information thus augmented will be made universally accessible through different international languages.

At present research works and specialty clinics are under progress on various ailments like Autism Spectrum Disorders, Infertility-Ante & post-natal care (Suputhreeyam), Stress and strain disorders (Suchethas), Childhood disorders (Subalyam) and Eye disorders (Sunayanam) are arranged in the college hospital.

'Meha vichinthanam' a specialty research OPD for Diabetes Mellitus and its complications is the latest venture of the Medical College. A conclave of eminent scholars in the respective field meets once in a month to discuss, share the experience and chart out the most amicable remedies. The experience thus obtained will be documented and published in the future for the benefit of all.
