National seminar on ‘ayur sports’


The School of Fundamental Research in Ayurveda, an academic centre of the KUHS (Kerala University of Health Services) is organizing a national seminar on ‘Ayur Sports’ at Kochi in Kerala on August 10.

The event is intended to raise awareness of the significance of Ayurveda in sports medicine among the Ayurvedic community and sports people.

The one-day programme will be held at the School of Fundamental Research in Ayurveda campus at Tripunithura. The event will be launched online at 9.30 am. Following the inaugural session, four scientific sessions on the ‘Role of Ayurveda in Sports Medicine’ will be presented by experts in the field.

Dr. Arshad P, Chief Physician, Sports Medicine, Daisman Sports Medicine Nutrition Centre, Kondotty, will speak on ‘Management Techniques of Sports Injury with Research Aspects’, Dr. Augustine George, Associate Professor, Physical Education, Govt Medical College, Kottayam, on ‘Acute Injury Management – Athletics Injuries’, Dr. Sheela Karalam B, Chief Scientist, Head R&D, Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Research Institute, Ollur, on ‘Innovative formulations’ and Dr. Mathews Vempilly, Founder, Chief Consultant, Vempilly Ayurveda Hospital, Muvattupuzha, on ‘Management of Sports Injuries with special reference to Repetitive Strain Injuries.

As part of the seminar, research ideas from faculty and PG scholars from around the country are invited to compete. The video presentations of the research papers will be reviewed, and the winners will be awarded university medals.
